George Clooney will soon be gracing the big screen once again with a starring role in a new movie called ‘Ides of March.’ The filming will be done in over two dozen locations across Cincinnati and northern Kentucky.
The movie will see Clooney, himself a native Kentuckian, star as a democratic governor running in the presidential primaries. No further details have been released about the movie and no date has been set for it’s release, but filming is slated to begin next month. The Movie will have an all star cast including, Marissa Tomei, Paul Giamatti, Ryan Gosling and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Kristen Erwin, the head of the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky film commission, said that hundreds of extras would be needed from the area over the three to four weeks in February and March when filming will take place.
George Clooney’s own Production Company, Smokehouse Pictures, plans to open a production office in the vicinity and “Producers and film crews have been busy meeting with city officials,” said Erwin.
Erwin also said, “We want Clooney and his team to feel we are a film friendly city and to understand how excited we are to welcome back one of our own.”
President and CEO of The Cincinnati based company, Dare To Dream Casting, Jacquie Loughery
said, “A casting call for hundreds of extras and some small roles will be announced very soon.”
In addition to film set extras, and as a result of state tax breaks, Erwin said that production office staff, drivers, makeup and hair artists would also be required.
Traffic (2000), was the last major motion picture to be filmed in the Cincinnati area and starred Michael Douglas.
