Few would argue that Anne Hathaway is a versatile actress. Now she has clawed herself one of Hollywood’s most coveted roles today. Selina Kyle, aka, Catwoman. Christopher Nolan will direct the next instalment of the hugely successful Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises. Christian Bale and Tom Hardy will star alongside Hathaway. The Catwoman roles were previously played by Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Her disappointing performance in Love & Other Drugs only serves as a showcase for why she’ll look good in a skin tight Catwoman costume. But surprisingly, in an independent pole conducted recently, she was far from the top pick by Batman fans for the role of Catwoman. It was infact, Keira Knightley who ranked 1st place with 29% of the votes, with Hathaway winning only 13%.

Hathaway had dramatic roles in Havoc (2005)¬†and Brokeback Mountain (2005). In 2008, she was acclaimed for her lead role in Rachel Getting Married, for which she won awards and was nominated for the Academy Award for best actress. In 2010, she starred in the box office hits Valentine’s Day, Love and Other Drugs and Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland. People magazine named her one of its breakthrough stars of 2001, and she first appeared on its list of the world’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2006.

The Dark Knight (2008), grossed over $1 billion worldwide. While Batman Begins (2005), made $372.7 million.

We can only hope Hathaway will meet the same standards as her predecessors for the prestigious and time honored role of Catwoman.
