Howard Stern of Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI)Yesterday the self-proclaimed king of all media, Howard Stern affirmed that he’ll start cutting back to three or four day a week appearances on Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI). His reduced hours should begin next week, said Radio-Info.com.

Previously Stern told Rolling Stone that the he’d probably cut back his hours as part of his second 5-year contract with Sirius XM.

The Examiner quoted Stern as saying:

“I don’t want to hear any nonsense about it, because the option was either leave or work a few less days…I figured it was better if we showed up three days a week, sometimes four days a week or whatever, be here for you, touch base and do a good show.”

Howard Stern has for years put on a great product and continues to do so although its not near as good as it used to be. The first five years at Sirius were awesome because he was hungry. With the three day work week the live content is now down 8 hours from before when you factor in that he ends each day at 10. If you deduct commercials and those ridiculous Sal and Richard lead ins I would imagine its 3 hours a day or less. If Sirius and Mr. Stern think 9-10 hours of live content per week for 30 odd weeks will keep a high percentage of the fans around for the next 5 years then more power to them. I think many of us fans will start thinking otherwise. The limited time the show is on now will force it to be very different. Alot of the great stufff we used to get is already gone and this will dilute it further. Mr. March may be a better title going forward than the King of all Media.
