Nickelback - Here and Now

Starting out this mad rush to the holidays is Nickelback with their latest release ‘Here and Now’. “This Means War” has an “unable to get along” mentality to it. The Pop/Rock of “Lullaby” shows the mass appeal of Nickelback and is just simply a really good song. “Midnight Queen” is a bad girl/bad boy and birds of a feather type of song — also another party song. “Bottoms Up” is an out of control, hot rocking party for the masses song. I don’t recommend drinking gasoline, but this is an extreme party song. A good song, but not a good idea to try this.

“When We Stand Together” is a more laid back acoustic rocker and another fine example of the depth and variety from a major player in heavy release season. I like this song a lot. The guitars are quite impressive on “Gotta Get Me Some”. It’s a “she’s everything and holds her liquor” kind if song, and another Rock Star song from Nickelback. Nice lead guitar at the end! “Trying Not to Love You” is the forgetting in vain love song. This is another song I like a lot. “Kiss it Goodbye” has some great guitar sounds on it. I agree with the attitude here. If you fall for the bright lights you will be sorry. This is my favorite of all the songs.

“Holding on to Heaven” is a pretty slow burn Rock song, adding to the extensive variety on this release. “Everything I Wanna Do” has a funky bass line and is another strong track. A close second for best song on here. “Don’t Ever Let it End” is a good time, feel good song that suggests this thing we got going should continue for a long time. A nice ending for a four and a third stars recording.

Nickelback is Chad Kroeger (lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitars), Ryan Peake (lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Mike Kroeger, (bass guitar) Daniel Adair (drums and backing vocals). The band hails from Hanna, Alberta.
