Florence + the Machine - CeremonialsFlorence + the Machine’s new release ‘Ceremonials’ (Deluxe Edition) features the song “Heartlines” in a jungle beat form with a mind blowing ambient sound and a bonus acoustic version which is vastly different. This is about the lines on your palm. “Bedroom Hymns” has a killer ambience along with an intriguingĀ beat. “Shake it Out” also presented with two different versions. The first one features the familiar ambience found on this release. The vocals are quite catchy on this. The second version is much more stripped down. In addition, there are also two demos of “Landscape” and “What the Water Gave Me” included here. Another intriguing song is the ambient “upside the head sound” of “Leave My Body”, which features a very catchy sing-song sound. “Breaking Down” features a great synthesizer intro and more catchy vocals, of which there are a lot of here.

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto‘Mylo Xyloto’ from Coldplay proves brightly colored, eye popping album artwork is still around. The best songs here are the bongo acoustic songs called “Major Minus”, with some catchy vocals, and “Hurts Like Heaven”, a faster pop song that really gets going musically, featuring some nice guitar work which enhances the sound. “Princess of China” (featuring Rihanna) is another catchy pop song with an excellent synthesizer sound. Pretty vocals from Rihanna sound quite nice here. The ambient sound of “Up With the Birds” is a sweet change of pace for the adventurous music lover, shifting to acoustic rock in the second half while still maintaining the ambience. A really nice song.

Both of these popular new releases are four star listening experiences.
