It is time for music’s biggest night. This is the only awards show I pay attention to. If you are interested in many offbeat awards, you can monitor the lesser winners on the grammy.com website as it happens. I think Adele will do well and Lady Gaga will not. Look for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, which is all the biggies. Although not my thing, Adele  has been high on the charts for months. Some more interesting artists the voters lean towards will be Wilco for Rock Album, Steve Earle for Folk, Steve Martin for Bluegrass and Thompson Square for Country Group or duo, all of which I have reviewed this past year. The Band Perry should be the favorite for Best New Artist.

Also of intrigue is the Tony Bennett  & Amy Winehouse collaberation which I also reviewed. Look for Tony to win as well on Best Traditional Pop Vocal. For Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance I like Dream Theater. For Best Rock song I am pulling for the Decemberists, but it looks like Foo Fighters will win. For Alternative Album lets say Death Cab for Cutie. For Best R&B Album Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. jumps out at me.

For Best Country Album I like Chief from Eric Church, which I Have reviewed, but Lady Antebellum is chisel in stone for awards. Do not count out Weird Al Yankovic for Best Comedy Album, which even after all these years is still good for a lot of laughs. For short video Adele, yet again, looks like a strong choice. I will follow this up after the Grammys with highlights of the event.
