Although not award winning in the album artwork department, the second of three Green Day releases is for the 2012 Holiday season a very solid 4 1/2 star essential Green Day. “Amy” finds Billy Joe with a stripped down ballad with vocals and a echo mellow guitar. This minimalist sound shows incredible depth. How can you lose with “Lady Cobra”, a pretty good snake woman song. “Makeout Party” is youth getting their freak on. Isn’t this the essense of Green Day?. This is also one of the best here.
“Ashley” is more guitar driven Green Day chick song Punk Rock. This is what you should expect. It delivers at the same time, quite large. “Baby Eyes” also Rocks alot. There is alot to like here across the board.”F%#@ Time” is just a guitar grunge drum driven good time. Isn’t that what you are looking for here? The lead guitar Rocks as well. “Lazy Bones” has a nice guitar driving the sound. I like this one quite a bit. “Nightlife” has vocal effects and more Pop than most songs here. It breaks up the other songs pretty nicely.
“See You Tonight” is laid back and shows more versatility than you might think. “Stop When the Red Light Flashes” kicks in right from the start. This shows why Green Day in any genre is a major player. “Stray Heart” is different from the rest which always is a bonus for my creative side. “Wild One” is a tribute to a crazy current love, and is a strong song. “Wow! That’s Loud” is a good song, but not that loud really, go figure.
